Everyone tells you how important education is, so we get one. Then they tell you that networking is the key to a career or running a business, so then what?! No one really teaches you how to do this even though it is one of the biggest skills.  Mark Herschberg has noticed this and created The Career Toolkit to help you gain all the skills for success that no one has been teaching. 

We talk about interviewing skills from sitting on both sides of the table, what being a team player means, and of course networking versus selling and the mistakes commonly made.  He also gives us a peek into what it was like to write the book and some of the struggles he faced.

Mark Herschberg is the author of The Career Toolkit, Essential Skills for Success That No One Taught You. From tracking criminals and terrorists on the dark web to creating marketplaces and new authentication systems, Mark has spent his career launching and developing new ventures at startups and Fortune 500s and in academia.

He helped to start the Undergraduate Practice Opportunities Program, dubbed MIT’s “career success accelerator,” where he teaches annually. At MIT, he received a B.S. in physics, a B.S. in electrical engineering & computer science, and a M.Eng. in electrical engineering & computer science, focusing on cryptography.

At Harvard Business School, Mark helped create a platform used to teach finance at prominent business schools. He also works with many non-profits, including Techie Youth and Plant A Million Corals.

He was one of the top-ranked ballroom dancers in the country and now lives in New York City, where he is known for his social gatherings, including his annual Halloween party, as well as his diverse cufflink collection.
